How The Jumpsuit Can Be Rocked With The Sleeveless Blazer

Jumpsuits are everywhere right now, but they can be a little intimidating if you've never worn one before. Don't be nervous! They may be inspired by men's coveralls, but they can be totally feminine and sophisticated in the right cuts and with the right styling. Let these 5 stylish ladies show you how it's done — its way easier to pull off than you think.

1. Define your waist
A slouchy, straight-up-and-down jumpsuit can be cool too, but cinching in the waist is a great way to define your shape adds a little extra femininity to your look. Belts are the go-to, of course, but tying a lightweight jacket or shirt around your waist can look pretty chic too and it has the added benefit of hiding that whole oblong-butt thing that sometimes happens when you cinch in the waist on a loose, flowy jumpsuit. You know what I'm talking about.

2. Break it up
Break up that big block of color with a lightweight jacket. Leave it open to elongate your body or wear it on your shoulders for some instant street-style cred. A crossbody bag, worn in front, is also good for adding a little visual interest to your look. (OK. Technically this isn't a jumpsuit. It's more of a romper layered over jeggings, but you gotta hand it to her for making such a bold styling choice.)

3. Glam it up
Jumpsuits are just as good for evening as they are for day, especially when worn with glitzy metallic accessories and a sleek tuxedo jacket (or vest!) — perfect for a fancy dinner or a chic black tie cocktail party.

4. Go for a bold color
Bright colors are automatic attention-getters — great for those times when you want to show off your shape.

5. Just add a heel
When in doubt, add a high heel — even the most utilitarian-looking jumpsuit can be completely transformed by a good pair of heels.

How To Style The Flare Pants

Wide legged pants are coming back on trend this season, especially white ones. I personally love wider pants which can be a very good choice of trousers for many women over 40.

It’s great for short legged women like me, as flared pants are very leg lengthening when they fit well at the top. Be sure to wear them with (high) heels though.

They may cover up your muffin top (if you have one) and hold your tummy in if you select a high waisted one.
Pear shaped women also benefit from wearing wide legged pants as they draw attention to the ankle and hips appear narrower.

If you are heavy at the top, flared pants will give you a nice silhouette.

Sporty & Chic

Sneakers are a constant in the fashion world in that some type of sneaker is always *in style* and v. trendy. Back in the late ’90s and early 2000s, platform sneakers were all the rage. Converse sneakers were huge while I was in high school.

A few years ago, we were all tottering around in sneaker wedges, and the last year or two, it’s been impossible to go anywhere without seeing at least one person in a pair of slip-on sneakers. 2016 is no exception – right now, athletic sneakers that look like they’re made more for the gym than lifestyle are on everyone’s style wish lists. It’s been interesting to watch sneakers grow in popularity.

While they have clearly always been popular, it wasn’t until a few years ago that athletic-looking sneakers became Fashion Editor Worthy, gracing the elegant feet of editors in the office or style bloggers making their way to Fashion Week. It wasn’t until quite recently that sneakers became glam and chic, not just a comfortable option. And while I first resisted this, even I now cannot deny their appeal – Nike and Adidas, just to name two brands, have introduced some truly terrific shoes that look good and feel good. I’m on the hunt for a pair myself now!

You really can’t go wrong with this trend. Pick the right pair and these sneakers can take you from the gym to out with your friends in no time flat. And, hey, no judgement if you’re buying them with zero intention of working out. That’s not the only reason sneakers exist!
