Ankara

When looking to describe Ankara fashion the first word that comes to mind is “bold”.

The African inspired fashion prints notoriously known as Ankara can be a bit overwhelming at first glance. However, over the last 10 years Ankara has become a seasonable fashion staple, showing up on runways and in fashion outlets year after year.

Although in the world of high fashion where anything goes, Ankara fits in just fine.

However, for the average person finding ways to incorporate Ankara into their everyday wardrobe can be difficult. Those who do not want to come across too “loud” but still wear this African inspired style can do so by implementing a few tried and true fashion secrets. We recommend combining an Ankara piece with professional neutrals for work. As well as introducing signature Ankara accessories into your regular outfits to give them an edgy look.

Fashion enthusiasts all over the world, just can’t get enough of Ankara pieces. In fact, it is safe to say that Ankara designs have become so popular that they are not part of the mainstream fashion scene. Everyone from Beyonce’ to Kim Kardashian has embraced the new Ankara style. However, because Ankara prints tend to be very bold and bright, they are not for the fashionably coy.

Although you can actually wear Ankara anywhere, including the Office, many people feel as if the look of an Ankara designs are too bold for an everyday wardrobe.

Fit N Flare Pleated Dress

If You Have Full Hips and Thighs Look for: Fit-and-flare shapes that have inverted pleats or that have knife or crystal pleats down the middle, or just like my sea blue dress. These choices flatter the hips without bulking them up. Folds on the bodice help even out curves

The fit and flare dress is the perfect dress for the leggy girl, allowing her show off her legs while de-emphasizing her less flattering features. it is also for the woman looking to bisect an unnaturally long torso and give the illusion of length. While there is little than can be done short of ruching and adding layers to the skirt, there is a lot than can be done to the bodice of a fit and flare dress to give it versatility. There are several ways to wear the fit and flare dress and we will try to show you how to look your best in it.

Wearing An Oversized Cardigan With A Dress

For the second look in this series I wanted to style this over sized cardigan sweater in a prettier way. I paired it with a long tank top dress.

How to wear a cardigan in a casual way.

When wearing an over sized cardigan the first thing you need to consider is the actual size of the cardigan. Somewhat over sized, kind of over sized or just plain big. I would advise something in between. You don’t want the cardigan to be so big that it swallows you up, than might as well wear a blanket.

If you have a cardigan that’s slightly over sized, like the one I’m wearing in this post, it’s especially important to pay close attention to what you wear underneath. The clothes have to be form fitting. If you wear the over sized cardigan with a dress, the dress needs to accentuate the waist or be belted.

In this outfit the dress is slightly longer than the cardigan .This is a good length because it won’t look like you’re wearing nothing underneath. The boots end about mid-calf and I decided not to wear tights or leggings because I didn’t there to be too much fabric. Being bared legged kept this outfit from looking frumpy. Overall the outfit was balanced. Heavy top with a lighter bottom.

A simple cross body pouch purse and the look is good to go. It can be optional either.
This outfit is for transitional weather. Once it starts getting colder leggings become a necessity. But while the weather is not too cold nor hot this is the perfect day look to keep you cozy but also looking stylish.
